WATER STRATEGY Water is crucial to Armstrong’s operations. To manage our use of water in a responsible and sustainable manner, we are systematically
reducing our consumption of this valuable natural resource.
|
|
 |
ARMSTRONG’S WATER POLICY REQUIRES:
|
- Measurement systems at all facilities for usage, disposal and evaporation;
- Quality management procedures to monitor the effects of recycling water;
- Goals to optimize water quality and reduce fresh water usage;
- Reporting progress against our goals to external stakeholders.
 |
Goal:
Our goal is to reduce fresh water use 10% by 2015 using 2006 as a baseline.
Accomplishments:
- Thomastown, Australia Flooring Plant reduced water use 33% by recycling and reusing waste water, enhancing maintenance, and
replacing inefficient cooling systems and equipment.
- Braeside, Australia Flooring Plant installed a rainwater collection tank to support on-site restroom facilities, with the
capacity to reduce water use by 8%, dependent on rainfall levels.
- Our Ceiling Recycling Program has saved over 56.7 million gallons of water.
