David A. Eberly, a principal engineer at Armstrong’s corporate headquarters, has been named a regional Energy Engineer of the Year by the
Association of Energy Engineers. Representing Region I of the association, which covers the northeast states, Dave will receive
the honor at the World Energy Engineering Congress, Washington, D.C. in October 2008.
Dave has directed numerous energy efficiency projects, but two in particular triggered his nomination for Energy Engineer
of the Year. He successfully obtained the Energy Star designation for our headquarters, Building 701, and he led the effort
to secure the energy credits required for that building to be the first in Pennsylvania to receive the U.S. Green Building
Council’s highest certification.

Dave’s work to improve Building 701’s energy use was one of several significant environmental efforts that have made a real
difference on the corporate campus. These include:
- Achieving $25,000 savings in energy costs annually;
- Attaining a 60% recycling rate for office waste;
- Implementing green cleaning techniques for all campus buildings that save thousands of dollars per year and improve indoor
air quality;
- Installing water saving appliances that save 380,000 gallons of water per year;
- Establishing carbon dioxide monitoring to ensure adequate airflow in occupied building areas.
Dave plays a key role in our efforts to reduce our overall environmental footprint by helping to establish, implement and
monitor Armstrong’s Corporate Sustainability Initiatives.
